Video Script: <br />Topic #5: Research techniques of smoking<br />Sydney: Smoking victim<br />Jenny: Smoking victim<br />Hyunna: doctor, START program introducer<br />(SCENE 1)<br />( outside at a playground, somewhere at school etc…)<br />S: hey I saw you smoking, isn’t that bad for-<br />J: why don’t you do it too!<br />S: uh, isn’t bad to smoke<br />J: no of course not, all the other kids do it<br />S: other kids?<br />J: you know, the ‘clique’<br />S: REALLY? I wanna do it<br />J: lets go buy some *jenny and sydney leave the camera view<br />(at the funeral of a jenny's 'father')<br />(Hyunna and Jenny are 'mourning' over the loss)<br />S: (preacher) HE DIED BECAUSE HE SMOKED!<br />(AT THE CAFE A FEW MONTHS LATER)<br />s: hey lets go and-<br />J: no im not going to smoke<br />S:…?<br />J: I realized that smoking can kill<br />S: pshaw! one little smoke cant kill you<br />J: no really!<br />S: so you stopped?<br />J: yup, why don’t you?<br />S: I can’t its sooo addicting<br />J: Its addicting because of nicotine I got rid of it because I used the START plan<br />S: whats that?<br />H: S= set a quit date<br />T= tell family, friends, and that you plan to quit<br />A= anticipate and plan for the challenges you’ll face with quitting<br />R= remove cigarettes from your everyday places<br />T= talk to your doctor about stopping<br />J: here if you can’t stop by self control, then here’s the business card of the doctor who helped a lot of people. <br />J: ( leaves)<br />(SCENE CHANGE)<br />( hospital door says ‘ DR. SI)<br />S: ( knocks)<br />J: opens ( nurse suit)<br />S: I made an appointment with dr. si<br />J: come in<br />H: Are you another smoke- a – holic?<br />S:….yess<br />H: well we have some techniques.<br />S: which one will work?<br />H: I guesss we’ll have to try them all, I guess you tried to do the START program?<br />S: I guess so,<br />H: Miss. Wang, please bring the hypnosis treatment<br />h: ( does hypnotizing)<br />( syd closes eyes, wakes up)<br />h: do you feel any better?<br />s: i feel drowsy<br />s: time for a smoke<br />j: ( jenny comes and slaps sydney)<br />h: patience miss wang.<br />( time past)<br />h: lets try the acupuncture method, this method may a hurt a bit... but it work on many patients. By hitting the right spots in your body, your body will create endorphines that will ignore the nicotine.<br />s: i'm too scared!<br />h: ''sigh' fine, then lets try the non-nicotine medication<br />s: what's that?<br />h: the reason for your addiction is nicotine, which is a drug that is put into cigarettes. by using this patch, (picks up band aid) <br />it will absorb your nicotine in your body, and if you stop smoking while using this method your addiction may stop.<br />s: ohhh kayyy<br />(later on comes back to doctor)<br />h: so how are you doing?<br />s: (looks away) oh good....(high pitched voice)<br />h: uh huh.... (sighs) we shall use another mehtod that we think is our most simple and last way to help you to stop.<br />j: motivational therapy?<br />h: yes, miss. wang please bring the books. do u like books? well if you do, then this might help, these books are books about how to stop smoking and what to do in order to replace your habits.<br />s: yes!<br />j: here you go dr. SI<br />s: (starts reading some of them)<br />h: anyways these will take some time to read, and remember self control sydney.<br />s: (reading intently) <br />h: SYDNEY<br />s: ye-yes? sorry this book is very good<br />h: that's why we gave it to you<br />s: of course.<br />(ONE DAY)<br />s: (comes in the doctor room)<br />(sits)<br />h: so how are you these days?<br />s: i stopped<br />h: REALLY???<br />s: yes<br />j/h: wow....<br />j: I can't believe it although it took a year, it worked!<br />s: ( smiles) YUP<br />
