To enable students to make a positive contribution to the Sixth form, school
and wider community, whilst preparing students for the next stage in their
life, whether it be university, college or the workplace by:
Providing opportunities to develop vital leadership skills
Providing opportunities to lead a team
Provide valuable experiences that can be utilised in job, college and
university interviews and applications
11. Borneo Expedition 2015
• One month expedition to Borneo (all inclusive).
• Chance to help others by working on a range of projects,
helping to improve the lives for rural people.
• Opportunity to take part in a forest regeneration project to
protect wildlife and the environment on the island.
• A visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary
• Chance to complete the PADI Open Water Diving Course
• Opportunity to gain 70 UCAS points on completion of the
expedition which will contribute to University applications.

Want to go to a top university?
The Russell group of 20 leading Universities such as Bristol, Durham,
Exeter, Cardiff, Manchester, Nottingham & Oxford have produced a list
of ‘facilitating subjects’ which are preferred. The A-Level subjects are:

Languages
Physics
Maths
This does not mean to say that you should only choose these. However,
these subjects should feature heavily in your choices at A-Level if you
want to attend a top university.
