YES!
Places like MetroLacrosse in Dorchester, MA
give community youth members the opportunity
to participate in sports and character education.
Sports provide a safe environment for kids to be
as opposed to hanging around dangerous
streets/people.
Sports give youth something to strive for and a
reason to be proud of themselves.
5. Why is “mental game” important?
Keeps you focused-You can’t let bad calls etc
get you down.
Need to visualize your game
Need to be able to recognize what you are doing
well and not well.
Need to be aware of others and able to
communicate with them.

community?
Community service: Sports teams often
participate in service opportunities as a
team.
Gives community members a fun and
exciting event to attend (Go Huskies!)

many diseases/illnesses

Athletic programs bring in large amounts
of money to colleges/universities
