4. How CIS Works Communities In Schools helps students stay in school and make right choices by connecting schools with needed community resources. By bringing resources, services, parents, and volunteers into schools, we create a community of caring adults who work hand in hand with educators.
5. CIS Cape Fear Is part of the national Communities in Schools organization. Helps students in New Hanover and Pender Counties. Provides free programs by writing grants. Helps kids stay in school and do well.

Safe Schools, Healthy Students Safe Schools, Healthy Students is a federal grant which allows CISCF and Pender County Schools to: Hire graduation coaches to make sure students are on the right track. Have after school programs with tutoring and special activities. Give students healthy snacks and fitness activities. Hold special events and field trips.
7. What is a graduation coach? Graduation coaches help students make good decisions. They monitor attendance, tardies, and behavior plans. They’re there when you need help. Graduation coaches, with the help of Sea Dawgs facilitators, run after school programs.
