6. Vineyard Overview
 Hidden Ridge Vineyard lies in the Mayacamas 28 Degree (55%) Slopes
Range between Napa & Sonoma Counties 900’ to 1,700’ Elevations
 So remote the area was referred to as the
“Impassible Mountain.”
 Elevations range from 900 to 1,700 feet and as steep
as 55% slope
 Terrain offers an abundance of micro-climates
 54 acres of Cabernet clones 337, 4, 7, 169 and one
acre of Petit Verdot; divided into 21 blocks
 Uplifted & faulted over time. The vineyard has
round river rocks found on the tops of ridges
 Vineyard soils are Sonoma volcanic shale (volcanic
basalt) and sandy clay loam
 Planted with inside & outside rows of 5% grade
terraces that follow the natural shape of the
mountain for optimum sun orientation
 VSP trellis system, modified to allow late afternoon
shade

Because of hillside ordinances this vineyard could not be
developed today. It is truly the last of its kind.
Hofacket and Ward are dedicated to keeping production small and
exclusively estate grown to secure for a long time to come the future of
their unique and exceptional vineyard.
