Vlad "Tepes" Dracula
Hello, our names are Halle and Jake. Today we will talk about Vlad Dracula the Impaler. During our
presentation you will learn about Dracula's kingdom of Transylvania and the way that the Dark Prince ruled
his kingdom.
If you would like to know why Vlad is known as the impaler, Vlad would take a stake that he would stand
straight up and down, and impale the unlucky dishonest person, or thief onto the stake. The reason for this
torture was because it was a very slow and painful.

We would like to start off our presentation by talking about Vlad's obsession with honesty. As you can see
from the picture, people in this country of Transylvania were tortured, murdered, and impaled by Vlad's
guards by the order of Vlad himself because the person either had lied about something or had been a thief.
One odd thing about Vlad is that he had a forest of dead men, women and children which were hung up on
very large stakes for the purpose for him to dine in. If someone didn't like the smell he would hang the
person higher than all the others so he or she wouldn't smell the stench during they're death.
The other place he would dine in is his castle, Bran Castle. Bran Castle was built by the Knights of the
Teutonic Order in the year 1212. It was known as Dietrichstein in its time of use. At the end of the 13th
century it was taken over by the Saxons. Vlad's old castle is now up for sale today.

One of Vlad's castles were burned down from the inside by the order of Vlad himself. This reason because he
wanted to get rid of the sick and poor in his country. He did not like having the most of his people in his
kingdom being sick and poor.
Another thing that has happened in his kingdom is that his wife had told him that she was pregnant in order
to make him feel happy when he was in a down mood. When he had found out that his wife had lied, he
took a knife and cut her open, crotch up to her chest.
Most of Vlad's victims were killed by impalement. When killing large numbers of peasants, he would drive
them in herds over cliff sides onto beds of spikes below. He also employed methods such as boiling,
quartering, decapitation, etc.

Although many think that the fact of Vlad Dracula drinking blood is true, I think it is a myth. The reason for
the name Dracula in his name is because of his father was named Vlad Dracul. They usually called him the
blood thirsty ruler. This is why I think that people think he was a "vampire".
As you can see from my presentation, Vlad had nothing but honesty in his country. Vlad died in battle, over
the age of fifty. He will always be remembered. Many remember him as a cruel fiend. Some remember him
as a proud and fierce defender of his homeland. He was, perhaps, both.
