3. LYRICS
A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I became
4. The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
The stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I'm always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart
5. PORTRAYED MEANING
"A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it's left me blind”
As a group we believe that this show how she is consumed instantly by the
love she felt for the guy. All she could "see" was him. But while with him,
whether it was because of him or not, she was in a bad state of mind. She was
in the dark. This could be because of a trust issue, we believe that there has
been a issue with cheating.
6. PORTRAYED MEANING
"But then it stopped” We think refers to the idea that because of her depression or changed attitude, he
left her.
"I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you"
This part refers to her trying to make better of her life by taking the stars from her eyes (taking the light,
or what makes her happy and getting back on to a better life). But she somehow sees that the guy that
she still loves is also in pain. He is depressed. And because she understands these feelings, she stays with
him. She doesn't want to feel happiness if he can't either.
7. OUR PROPOSAL
The concept of our music video is to show the love and the
relationship that a couple have. It is about the struggle that they face
in this relationship as a result of cheating.
Our main female character has to get to get over this and
throughout the music video we follow her struggle of coping again
without him.
9. AUDIENCE
We want to engage our audience and maintain this level of absorption
throughout. We will try to do this by using visually pleasing footage that creates
enigma and leaving the audience wanting more.
Our age group is between 15-30. This is a wide spread audience. We did not
want to limit ourselves and would like to engage many ages.
Our video content is something that our target audience can relate to. The
footage and storyline that we want to follow will give our audience something to
remember. They might have had the same expierence or know someone who has.
This will help to further engage our audience and make our video more memorable.
10. AUDIENCE
Our audience is aimed at those who are interested in this style of
pop music. We want them to be engaged with the footage,
understanding it and even make references to it.
11. LOCATION
As a group we had a thorough discussion of our location. We decided that it
would be best for us to do some research into locations that were near us. If
we was to go with the idea of following a relationship we want to create a
romantic scene therefore using a setting like a castle that has lots of grounds
would help us to succeed in this.
We all like the look of Hever Castle however we want to visit lots of places in
order to get a good idea and make a good decision of a appropriate
destination.
12. HEVER CASTLE
Our trip to Hever castle only further developed and engaged our
ideas.
This really helped us to formulate our ideas and come to decisions
regarding our story board and footage.
13. OTHER LOCATIONS
We have more than one location. This is because we want to show
and follow their relationship, portraying it over a long period of time.
Other locations include Mollie’s garden, this is easily assessable to
us and we have permission to use this site.
Cooling's and nearby woods are also other locations that we are
looking in to. We like the atmosphere that this creates because of the
surrounding and the isolation that we can portray due to location.
14. PERFORMANCE STYLE
We want to have a narrative performance style. This is because it will show a
development in their relationship. Narrative based music videos follow a storyline
throughout the video which tend to relate to the lyrics. These stories are ones that the
audience can follow and relate to, footage of the artist is usually used in order to create
connection with the audience and even include a performance route.
Narrative based music videos are a successful way of conveying a meaning. They help
to portray a message and the artists story. The story is often remembered and therefore
this is a good way of getting recognition and multiple views due to this strong
performance.
15. PRACTICE SHOTS
We went to Mollie’s house using the smoke machine in our
location. This helped us to know and learn how well the effects work
within the surroundings.
It also made us aware of battery life on the camera as well as
another plug points that we need to assess.
16. We chose not to chose the performance style of concept and
performance. This is because we wanted to create a story with our filming
and choosing narrative style performance was the best way to do this.
Although they al have many appealing elements to the audience we
want to make sure that we engage our audience from the very beginning
of the music video. We believe that the other styles will inhibit our
chances of doing this successfully.
17. PROPS
We want to use our location and setting as our main props. We
want to include the natural surrounding.
Our plan is to set up a fire, using such props as smoke machines
and lighting techniques and effects. We also plan on using the maze at
Hever Castle to show and narrate our love story.
We have a wide range of props available to use therefore we have
easy assess to them if we decide to use more equipment.
18. CASTING
Although we have not casted anyone as of yet we do however we
have an idea into the type of cast and characters that we want to use.
We will need to cast two female characters and a male character.
This is so that we can show the relationship, the beak up and the
cheating.
19. COSTUME
We have many different costume ideas. We want to film many different
styles of clothing this is because we want to see what works best in portraying
our meaning. We also want to show the relationship over a long period of time.
We have had a group discussions and have come up with many different
ideas. We like the idea of a white dress because it shows the innocence of the
relationship. However we realise the difficulties of this looking old fashioned
and we do not want this to happen sue to our target audience.
21. MALE
We want our male character
to come across as a laid back
character. This is because he
has cheated in the
relationship. This shows a
close link to the personality
that we want to portray with
our male character.
22. EFFECTS, EDITING AND
FILMING STYLE
There are many different effects that we want to use and explore
as a group. We have previously explored many of them already
wanting to make sure that we know how to use the equipment as see
the effects of this
