- Rapid Response produces targeted content for particular needs on short notice. Our purpose is to be able to flexibly produce specific needed high quality content on relatively short notice. Projects may range in scale from just finding and uploading a couple of images and writing a Brief Summary as support for a Learning and Education podcast to writing full pages with images for multiple species to support a BioBlitz or a special exhibit. The vast majority of the content on EOL is automatically aggregated from a multitude of content partners. But if we need particular high quality content, or a coherent overview, for particular taxa, a knowledgeable human needs to tackle this: hence RR.Content is often generated internally by RR, but when practical we may ask specialists (e.g., scientist from a podcast for which we are working on a page) provide images and text, or at least vet.One ongoing RR project we initiated is "Species of the Day", which aims to introduce people to the fabulous diversity of life, including both familar and unfamiliar taxa.
