As it is written on its home page, it’s “ Diigo is a powerful research tool and a knowledge-sharing community” Everyone using delicious should try diigo. Some are frustrated with delicious and the lack of updates too, especially if you have more than 1000 bookmarks on delicious. On diigo, you can import all of your delicious bookmarks with tags and all. There are added features like highlighting and sticky notes, a great list feature , and it’s much more “social” than delicious, easier to share links with groups of people, easier to get links from groups with similar interests. Right now, I’m still bookmarking in both, while I make the transition. But so far, diigo is superior. Despite the browser you are using (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome), Diigo is a social bookmarking service which has all the features you could imagine – bookmarking, searching, highlighting and more to organize all your Web pages. Some of the relevant features Diigo offers are: An optional downloadable toolbar which offers an intuitive user interface for beginners and/or advanced. If you download the toolbar , Diigo will be at hand all the time in you computer. Downloading the toolbar takes a few seconds and it is optional. If you do not download it, you can go to the website, log in and enter your dashboard. Diigo automatically analyzes the page content you are surfing and recommends suitable tags for you. Just point and click, and/or enter your own tag(s). If you are a web surfer, you must come across webpages you find interesting but do not have time to read at that moment, so you may bookmark them to come back later. But, you may forget what it was that you cared about on the page. With Diigo, you can highlight the the text why you’re bookmarking that website, and then later view the page with highlightsand. No more searching through the page is necessary to understand why you considered the website you had bookmarked interesting! Another advantage is that you can share what you consider interesting by sending your bookmarks to Facebook , Twitter or your blog with one click, you can send a Diigo bookmark to the social network you participate. To send Diigo bookmark to Facebook, you’ll have to install the Diigo Facebook application Facebook app lication. Another way of sharing is joining a group. When you are reading a page, you can make comments right on it, that show up as speech bubbles. If another Diigo user comes across the page, he/she’ll be able to see the comment, and a real conversation can happen. These annotations can be kept private, shared with a group within Diigo or a special link forwarded to someone else.
