This document summarizes research on the emotional and economic impacts of stereotypes on immigrant communities. The research involved focus groups with high school students to understand their perspectives. Students identified common stereotypes of immigrants such as being lazy, criminals, or draining resources. The research found that stereotypes cause pain and loss of hope for students of color. However, stereotypes also motivate students to challenge the labels and prove them wrong. The students' stories showed stereotypes have economic impacts through discrimination in policing, housing, and employment.
