Miles presentation By Matt and Brayden
Key components Genre – adventure film Target viewing audience – People of all ages Mise en scene- Character travels to different places and meets different people. Miles sets off to find his hero showing ambition and desperation. Journey taken one step at a time. Each one as significant as the other.
In what ways does your media product use and develop forms and conventions of real media products? Uses the conventions of The hero with a thousand faces by Joseph Campbell with the different stages of the journey. Being given a gift to help to improve or defeat the challenge ahead. The hero with a thousand faces, applies to any text in which the character is given a choice in which changes his/her social norm. This strongly applies to matrix, when Neo is given a drug which shows him the true world. Little Miss Sunshine was one of the main inspirations for our choice of narrative.
Thousand faces stages These stages may be organized in a number of ways, including division into three sections: Departure (sometimes called Separation), Initiation and Return. "Departure" deals with the hero venturing forth on the quest, "Initiation" deals with the hero's various adventures along the way "Return" deals with the hero's return home with knowledge and powers acquired on the journey.
Challenging the forms and conventions of real media products Looking for Eric : Looking for Eric is another film where an ordinary person goes off in search of their hero. Our film though has less of a comical side to it though and moves away from the comedy genre. As well as replacing the comedy with a more meaningful factor which helped to construct the narrative of the film
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? Slogan : “How far would you go to realise your dreams ?” which is continuous in all of the parts of the project. We have also tried to keep the emphasis of the journey in all of our texts. We have tried to structure the texts clearly and effectively.
Ancillary texts
What have you learned from your audience feedback? One of the main things that we have learned is getting advice on how to apply theory to our project e.g. relating it to Joseph Campbell and the theory of monomyth Monomyth – The hero’s journey refers to a basic pattern of narrative. How to construct our product better such as different editing and structuring techniques.
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? We used technologies ,such as Youtube in order to watch teaser film trailers to gain understanding of their construction We uploaded the film to Facebook and Youtube to gain a wider audience to give the film more significant feedback. We planned by watching films, such as Road Trip in order to construct the narrative for our film.
