- Blogs are an easy alternative to a Library web site. Do not know how to use Dreamweaver or know html- a blog will allow you to post web content without knowing any web design. All it takes is an email address or a username. Blogs also makes it easier for Library users to interact with you. Blogs can allow people to post a comment., ask a question, or voice an opinion  My personal favorite blog server is Blogger. Blogger makes it easy to post pictures and videos. It is also more manager friendly- meaning if someone posts an inapproriate comment- you can easily delete it when you are signed in. Livejournal is alot of fun for fan fiction and pop culture references (I belong to a Gossip Girl Forum that allows members to post fan fiction that they written based on both the books and the TV show).  My original intention for my Library's blog was to communicate with the school community with Library happenings. When I arrived in Revere I started a Birthday Book Club to help with the Library's collection. In addition to sending out letters home, I posted information about the program on my Library web site and Library blog. Last January- I used the blog to let parents know that I no longer had a part time Library Asst. so I was no longer doing overdue notices. Parents that read the blog offered to volunteer in some capacity to help with the day to day Library maintence. Last year, like many other districts we faced budget crunch. It save money- I used the blogs for writing exercises rather the wasting paper. All 3rd-5th grade students were given a username to post comments on the Library blog. The blog was also a great way to show off what the students were learning in Library class. My 3rd graders created a Dewey Podcast. The 3rd graders "taught" a lesson on the Dewey Decimal System. I was able to upload it onto the Library blog. Â
