RECALL from chapter 4 -- Congruency..
You learned specifically that TRIANGLES are ≅ if they meet
certain criteria:
SAS SSS ASA AAS
(AAA and ASS or ASS backwards did NOT work)
What did you have to do?
-Compare 2 triangles
-See if pieces matched in a specific order
-Declare them ≅
-Then the remainign pieces were CPCTC
3. This time we are not concerned about ≅ but we are concerned about
similarity!
2 figures are congruent if they are the same exact size and shape
2 figures are similar they are the same shape but their sides are
proportional
(think Xerox machine)
4. Polygons are similiar IF and ONLY IF their corresponding angles are ≅
AND their sides are proportional!
