2. Living Things Are Made From The Same Chemical Ingredients And living mammal is made out of DNA. Such as a monkey. DNA contains instructions that controls all life form. A rock has no DNA. There for it is not living.

3. Living things have cells. A cell is the basic structural unit. A wolf has cells. A pencil does not have cells.

4. All Living Things Have DNA Or RNA To live all things have to have DNA. If the thing is not living it is made up of atoms. An ox has DNA. Glasses do not have DNA.

5. In Order For Organisms To Live Need Water, And a Source Of Energy. Plants need water and the energy from the sun in order to stay alive. A T-Shirt does not need water or energy.

6. All Living Things Can Reproduce And Grow. This means that living things create off spring so that there species will stay alive for a another generation. An cat grows and can reproduce. A kite can not grow or reproduce.

7. All Things Living Have Limited Life Spans. This means that all living things must die at some point in the living life span. A butterfly must die in some point in time. A towel can be forever.

8. Living Things Respond To There Surroundings. Being able to respond to there surrounds mean that they can find food ,and respond to danger. Also some animals can maintain a regular body temperature, even know the outside temperature is always changing. An bear can respond to there surroundings. A shoe can not.

9. All Organisms Have The Ability To Move. Many organisms depend on being able to move to capture food ,and escape form danger. A bird can move. A sidewalk can’t move.

10. Living Things Can Heal Themselves. Many animals get hurt either trying to catch pray or if they are pray and many more. They can heal themselves. If they couldn't many would die before they reach adulthood. A dog can repair itself. A balloon can’t.
