Introduction Student Page Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] Today in class we are going to be reading the book  There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow  through a powerpoint presentation that I have prepared for you. After reading the book, we will be talking about how each and every one of you are special and unique. Then in relation to the winter theme in the book, we will be making snowflakes, and will compare how each of your snowflakes are different from one another. I will then post them on the bulletin board. Lastly, you will also have the chance to play some winter interactive games online.

Evaluation Student Page Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] Beginning 1 Developing 2 Accomplished 3 Exemplary 4 Score Description Makes a complete and detailed description of the subject matter and/or elements seen in a work. Makes a detailed description of most of the subject matter and/or elements seen in a work. Makes a detailed description of some of the subject matter and/or elements seen in a work. Descriptions are not detailed or complete. Analysis Accurately describes several dominant elements  or principles used by the artist and accurately relates how they are used by the artist to reinforce the theme, meaning, mood, or feeling of the artwork. Accurately describes a couple of  dominant elements  and principles used by the artist and accurately relates  how these are used by the artist to reinforce the theme, meaning, mood, or feeling of the artwork. Describes some dominant elements and principles used by the artist, but has difficulty describing how these relate to the meaning or feeling of the artwork. Has trouble picking out the dominant elements. Interpretation Forms a somewhat reasonable hypothesis about the symbolic or metaphorical meaning and is able to support this with evidence from the work. Student identifies the literal meaning of the work.  Student can relate how the work makes him/her feel personally. Student finds it difficult to interpret the meaning of the work. Evaluation Uses multiple criteria to judge the artwork, such as composition, expression, creativity, design, communication of ideas. Uses 1-2 criteria to judge the artwork. Tries to use aesthetic criteria to judge artwork, but does not apply the criteria accurately. Evaluates work as good or bad based on personal taste.
Conclusion  Student Page Title Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Credits [ Teacher Page ] In this lesson, you will learn how special you are, and what an important part of the class they are. By seeing how your snowflake is different than everyone else's, you will see how they are all different from each other, but also that they are all very special and important! You will also see how technology can be used in reading as a fun new way to learn. As an extension of this lesson, the teacher could also have you write or draw something you think is unique about yourselves somewhere on your snowflake.

Introduction (Breanna Schultz) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion DEVELOPMENTAL DOMAIN:  Affective   ULTIMATE GOAL:  For children to regard themselves as valued and capable persons.    INTERMEDIATE OBJECTIVE:  Demonstrate that they have a feeling of belonging in the school environment.  This lesson will allow students to appreciate the differences among themselves. They will also have the opportunity to read the book over PowerPoint and will be able to browse an interactive game site about winter. After reading the book, the children will each cut out their own snowflake, and we will discuss how each of their snowflakes is unique and special just like them.

Prior to this lesson, the learners will need to know how to use their fine motor skills to cut the snowflakes, and will also need to have a basis of knowledge about the season of winter. Evaluation (Breanna Schultz) [ Student Page ] Title Introduction Learners Standards Process Resources Credits Teacher Page Evaluation Teacher Script Conclusion METHOD OF ASSESSMENT:  Write anecdotal records while the children are cutting and decorating on how the children are able to use their fine motor skills when performing this task. Children will also be assessed on how receptive they are to the book on powerpoint as well as how receptive they are to the interactive online game.

After reading the book, we will be talking about how each and every one of you are special and unique. Then in relation to the winter theme in the book, we will be making snowflakes, and will compare how each of your snowflakes are different from one another. I will then post them on the bulletin board. Lastly, you will also have the chance to play some winter interactive games online.

This lesson will allow students to appreciate the differences among themselves. They will also have the opportunity to read the book over PowerPoint and will be able to browse an interactive game site about winter. After reading the book, the children will each cut out their own snowflake, and we will discuss how each of their snowflakes is unique and special just like them.
