What is a blog? Blog is short for Weblog It is a web page that can be created Write on your blog as much as you’d like. Like adding a page to a journal/diary Each post has a comment section  Visitors to the blog may leave comments for the author
Why Blog? Communication Skills Learn how to express your own ideas Learn how to respond respectfully to other’s opinions Technology Skills Typing, using computer programs, internet safety rules
Why Blog? Writing Skills Spelling and grammar Commitment and Responsibility Commit to posting on a regular basis Responsible for posting facts  Responsible for posting as professional students
Blogging Security Do not post the following information: School name or our location Your age Email address Phone numbers Home address.
Blogging Security You can post the following information: Your first name only Your interests and opinions Your thoughts and feelings Creative stories, summaries, poems, etc.
Username/Password You will be given your own username and password Do notshare  usernames or password with anyone besides your teachers and parents  Never log in as another student
Blog Space = Classroom Space Inappropriate for class = Inappropriate for your blog Debate and conversation is OK! You will conduct yourself as a professional student.
Comments All comments must be respectful If a comment makes you feel uncomfortable, weird, or not respected: tell your teacher right away do not respond to the comment
Computer Use Take good care of the computers Stay on task Do not click on ads or games.
*Students who do not abide by these terms and conditions may lose their opportunity to take part in this project.
