Pi is...

    • An infinite string of digits

    • 3.1415926535897932384626433832795028841971693993...

    • An expression (π)

PI IS USED FOR:

    • Finding the circumference and area of a circle, cylinder or
        sphere

    • Getting the area of a part of a circle

TAU
      ‘Tau’ (pronounced ‘t-ow’) is
equal to 2π (pi multiplied by
2; 6.28318...). It is debated that
tau should replace pi, as many
       problems require usage of
                    2π.

FUN FACTS:

    • With just 39 digits of pi, you can measure the circumference of
the observable universe, accurate to the width of a single
        hydrogen atom.

    • As of February 20th, 2013, scientists have discovered the digits
of pi to about 10 trillion digits.

    • In 1897, pi was almost legally changed to 3.2 by a professor in
        Indiana.
