 What is android ? This is a simple question
but the answer is quite complicated. If
you go deeper on the word android ,
You will get lot of answers for the
question What is Android. To answer in a
simple way. Android is an operating
system for Mobile phones. I will explain
more about this in the later part of this
  article.

 Lot of advances can be seen these days in the field
of smart phones. As the number of users is increasing
day by day, facilities are also increasing. Starting with
simple phones which were made just to make and
receive calls. Now we have phones which can even
access GPS , GPRS, Wi-Fi, NFC. and lot of other cool
and advanced features which you cannot even
    imagine.
 So in this Mobile world of this complication. Android is
one of those operating system platforms which made
it easy for manufacturers to design top class phones.
 http://eglobiotraining.com/
 Android is also an operating system
developed by Google. Basically it was
started by some other company which was
taken by Google. Google improved the
operating system and made it a open
source platform. It was widely adapted
over the world. As it is open source it is so
  popular amongst the smart
phones. Android OS can also be used on
  tablet PCs.
 Android is a open source platform which
can be used by any phone manufacturers
on the world. Unlike other operating systems
for mobile phones like ions ( Operating
system by apple for phone, iPod and other
devices.). Sambaing is owned by Nokia and
it comes only on Nokia Handsets. Android
can be used by any manufacturer. So that
if the latest research is to be believed over
half of the smart phones in use run on
  android.
 Android is one the hottest mobile
  operating systems available today.
Samsung is the Largest Manufacturer of
android phones and tablets. LG, HTC,
Sony, are other top manufacturers of
android phones and tablets. Some local
  manufacturers like MicroVAX, Carbon,
Hawaii, also use android Phones on their
  portable devices.

 Android is released in series of Versions.
  Starting from 1.0 version ( where 2.0, 3.0,
…… are latest releases). Google name
these versions with some food items like
ice cream, jelly bean, sandwich etc.
which is one of the specialty of android
  versions.
 Android is a Linux-based operating system designed
primarily for touch screen mobile devices such
as smart phones and tablet computers. Initially
developed by Android, Inc., which Google backed
financially and later purchased in 2005,[9] Android
was unveiled in 2007 along with the founding of
the Open Handset Alliance: a consortium
    of hardware, software,
    and telecommunication companies devoted to
advancing open standards for mobile devices.[10] The
first Android-powered phone was sold in October
    2008.[11]
 http://eglobiotraining.com/
 Android is open source and Google releases the
code under the Apache License.[12] This open source
code and permissive licensing allows the software to
be freely modified and distributed by device
    manufacturers, wireless carriers and enthusiast
developers. Additionally, Android has a large
    community of developers writing applications
("apps") that extend the functionality of devices,
written primarily in a customized version of the
Java programming language.[13] In October 2012,
there were approximately 700,000 apps available for
Android, and the estimated number of applications
downloaded from Google Play, Android's primary
    app store, was 25 billion.[14][15]

 Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T, Sprint, T-
  Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon)
 Pumped with high-performing hardware
  and creative software features, the
Samsung Galaxy S3 is an excellent, top-
end phone that's neck and neck with
  the HTC One X.

 http://eglobiotraining.com/
 Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T, Sprint, T-
  Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon)
 Samsung delivers a powerful, boundary-
pushing device that gets a lot right. Yet
its complicated features and high price
  raise questions about its purpose.
 HTC Droid DNA (Verizon Wireless)
 With quad-core power, 4G LTE, a lovely
5-inch screen, and a stunning design, the
$199.99 HTC Droid DNA is currently
  Verizon's best Android deal.

 The version history of the Android mobile
operating system began with the release of
the Android beta in November 2007. The
first commercial version, Android 1.0, was
released in September 2008. Android is
  under ongoing development
by Google and the Open Handset Alliance,
and has seen a number of updates to its
base operating system since its original
  release. These updates typically
fix bugs and add new features.
 Since April 2009, Android versions have
been developed under a codename and
  released in alphabetical order: Cupcake,
  Donut, Éclair, Frodo, Gingerbread,
  Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS),
and Jelly Bean. As of 2013, over 500 million
active devices use the Android OS
  worldwide.[1] The most recent major
Android update was Jelly Bean 4.2, which
was released on commercial devices in
  November 2012.[2][3]
 There were at least two internal releases inside
Google/OHA before the Android beta was
released in November 2007. In a temporary
naming scheme, the second of these releases
    was code-named "R2-D2".[4] Dan Moral
created some of the first mascots logos, but
the current green Android logo was designed
by Irina Blok. Ryan Gibson conceived of the
confections naming scheme that has been
used for the majority of the public releases,
    starting with Android 1.5 Cupcake.
 http://eglobiotraining.com/
 The Android beta was released on 5 November
2007,[5][6] while the software development kit (SDK) was
released on 12 November 2007.[7] The 5 November date is
popularly taken to be Android's "birthday".[8]
 Public beta versions of the SDK were released in the
    following order:
 16 November 2007: m3-rc22a[9]
 14 December 2007: m3-rc37a[10]
 13 February 2008: m5-rc14[11]
 3 March 2008: m5-rc15[12]
 18 August 2008: 0.9[13]
 23 September 2008: 1.0-r1[14]
