2. THE LIBRARY AT VLADIMIR DIMITROV THE MASTER
1919 PUBLIC CHITALISHTE IN THE VILLAGE OF
SHISHKOVTSI, KYUSTENDIL MUNICIPALITY
o Location – part of the Kyustendil valley, to the
northeast of Kyustendil, on the right bank of the
Struma River;
o Inhabitants – 555;
 Children and school goers – 15 %;
 Employed – 20 %;
 Unemployed – 20 %;
 Pensioners – 40 %.

5. THE MASTER
 In the autumn of 1924, Vladimir Dimitrov the Master
came to live in his “green capital” of Shishkovtsi.
 He became part of the hardworking and rich in fruit
orchards Shishkovtsi.
 He depicted the villagers’ hard work and the fertility
of the land. He painted in the fields from morning till
late night.

6. THE CHITALISHTE
In 1972, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of
Vladimir Dimitrov the Master’s birth, the home
monument “Vladimir Dimitrov the Master” – today’s
chitalishte – was opened.

7. VLADIMIR DIMITROV THE MASTER 1919 PUBLIC CHITALISHTE IN
SHISHKOVTSI JOINED THE GLOBAL LIBRARIES – BULGARIA PROGRAM AS A
TARGET LIBRARY UNDER ITS FIRST STAGE IN 2009.

 As a target library, we received the opportunity for

11. AN IMPLEMENTED AND LONG-TERM
PARTNERSHIP
Zvezda Kindergarten, Shishkovtsi
 Day of Bulgarian folk tales at the library, including
reading of “The Three Brothers and the Golden Apple”;
 Visit to the library computer center and unveiling
computer secrets to children;
 “Let’s Sing a Nursery Song with the Computer”.

• “Baba Marta: White and Red”;
• “My Dear Mommy” – Mom’s Day;
• “What I Learned in the Kindergarten” – Letters’ Day;
• “Santa with Us”.

Following a nation-wide NGO competition in 2011
under the “FOR CLEAN ENVIRONMENT” campaign of
the Ministry of the Environment and Waters, Vladimir
Dimitrov 1919 Public Chitalishte was approved to
access funding totaling up to BGN 3,000 for making a
playground in the chitalishte park.

16. I PARTICIPATE TOO
Vladimir Dimitrov the Master 1919 Public Chitalishte
and the children from the village of Shishkovtsi, for a
period of at least two more years of project
implementation, shall continue to maintain and
protect from pollution the playground and the
equipment.

17. PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT ENVISAGED IN THE
PROJECT
 Climbing facility;
 Slide;
 Double swing;
 3 benches;
 Decorative fence – 15 m.

18. THE DREAM COME TRUE
 Online contacts with various producers of
playground equipment.
 Selection of a contractor to build the playground.
 Impressia OOD Company from Provadia submitted
the most suitable bid.
 We installed the playground and the children were
delighted to see it!

23. PLAYING AT LARGE IN THE PLAYGROUND
Every day, the children from Zvezda Kindergarten
come to the playground in the chitalishte park

25. OPPORTUNITIES AS A GLB TARGET LIBRARY
 We work in a prompt and easy manner;
 The courses conducted under the program
complemented our knowledge and skills;
 We are able to look for and find out calls for projects
under the EU funds announced by the different
ministries;
 We find new partners and friends;
 We have a Facebook profile where we publish
materials on conducted events.

o We keep an electronic archive of our activities;
o Access to information available at various websites and
related to our library activities;
o Opportunity to prepare promotion materials;
