ISP is deploying VoIP services and must implement QoS monitoring tools to insure the network performance meets high standard of quality and execute lawful intercept.
VoIP QoS distributed probe plan is cost prohibitive because too many probes are required. VoIP phone calls involve many sub protocols which comprise of many different servers and hosts. There is no singular place to plug probes in. SPAN ports at the core miss many local transactions. The data must be collected at various points on the network. In total, 36 probes are needed totaling 2.8 million dollars.
