  1. Plagiarism is a serious offense. Plagiarism occurs when a student obtains portions or elements of someone else’s work, including materials prepared by another person or agency and presents those ideas or words as his or her own academic work. The intentional or un-intentional use by paraphrase or direct quotation of the published work of another person without full and clear acknowledgement shall constitute plagiarism. Students are responsible for following the guidelines of the appropriate course or discipline. Plagiarism is considered academic dishonesty.Students who violate university rules on academic dishonesty are subject to disciplinary penalties including the possibility of a failing grade, failure or removal from a course, disciplinary probation, and/or dismissal from the university. You should refer to your student handbook for the official TWU policy. And remember, when in doubt, cite.
  2. What is Plagiarism? “Plagiarism is the act of taking someone else’s work and using it as your own without crediting or citing the original source.” So plagiarism is using someone else’s words, sentences, images, music, without giving them credit, and it also includes paraphrasing someone else’s ideas.A good rule to remember is: when in doubt, cite.
