2. Why uses web 2.0 tools?
Essentially web 2.o tools are a collection of
social tools that allows for the interaction of a
single person to an online community, which
can be the user private community or the whole
world.
Provide interaction in course that is missing in
a Distance Education class.
Provide familiarity of a traditional classroom in
a virtual environment.
3. Blogs
Core function
● Share a single or many topic
● Allow users to response to topic
● Allow linear interaction
An Example for use in education
Instructor/Student post a topic, other students
can read and provide feedback for posted topic.
4. Wiki
Core function
● Share a single or many document
● Allow users to response/edit/collaborate to
build document
● Allow dynamic interaction

Students in a group setting to set up a wiki to
collaborate on a single project. From planning
to execution each group member will be able to
interact with the documents by adding on or
removing ideas/execution steps for project
5. Discussion Board
Core function
● Share a single or many topic
● Allow users to response to topic

Instructor post a education topic, students
provides responds base on the topic including
each student opinion on topic. This can lead to
debate which will cause an increasing interest
in topic.
6. Video sharing

supplementary materials for student to view.
7. Voice Sharing
Core function
● Share a single or many voice recording
● Allow users to response to voice recoding

● Allow full interaction between two parties in
real time but in a virtual environment
setting.

student can interact with instruction in real
time in a virtual environment.
9. An example of intergration
Problem :
An History instructor wants his/her student to be able to collaborate in a
history report. The instructor wants his/her student to write the paper base on
a given topic together, comes up with an idea and present for the whole class.
Solution:
In this particular case the instructor can use all of the tools above to allow
his/her students to perform the mentioned project. Starting with a blogs that
contain all of the given topics, student would comments on the blog to join the
group that is responsible for the report of that topic, leaving video and voice
links of supplementary materials for students. Student then can use a
discussion board tools to brain storms and gather the necessary materials for
the reports. Then together each group will be able to collaborate and write a
single report using the any wiki tool. Then using a online conferencing tool,
instructor can set up a specific virtual meeting time for each group to present
the materials.
