21. Why project is necessary
• Other Member States are also struggling with the challenges of linking geospatial
education and training to labour market needs.
• In order to avoid reinventing the wheel and also to take stock of other experiences
and build upon them, we are convinced that this project to transfer innovation is
necessary.

So Hendrik decided that he wanted to share the Dutch experiences with other countries using European Commission funds.
We decided to submit a proposal under the Lifelong Learning Programme, Leonardo da Vinci, Transfer of Innovation. The title in 2012 was: GEO Plus: Innovating VET-land surveyors skills to meet labour market needs. It would be for 2 years, approximately EURO 300,000 (80% funding by EU, 20% funding by partners).
Hendrik met with various persons, got Mascia on board who you will meet tomorrow. She is an expert in European Commission projects. You need an expert in order to complete the application form. It was around this time that I came on board as well. Basically Hendrik and Mascia created the text and physically type it into the form. Sounds easy, its not. It took us 10 days to complete.
