Coffee sales volumes have been stagnating for this local,
medium-sized producer. This project was initiated as
an effort to reverse the trend and better penetrate the
market.

After analysing the market, the brand’s product range
and general marketing trends we concluded that the is-
sue was to meet a wider market in a more effective way.

Our solution was targetting a new, wider audience
and increase quality and added value by aiming at the
upper-middle segment. To that effect we introduced
a new brand, “Real K” with a new line of products that
features:

- higher quality blends
- associations to a friendly familial business, “the small
   factory by the harbor” which is Kjeldsberg’s core
   identity.
(In Norwegian “real” means “decent”, “all-right”)

In that perspective a specific packaging was designed

“Birk” is the result of a project initiated by advertising
agency Bennett AS for the store chain Norsk Flid.

The topic was “modern re-interpretation of a traditional
Norwegian object”.

We chose to base our project on the typically stout
fireplace set and adapt it to modern interiors and user
patterns.

We proceeded by re-interpretating this object and give
it a fresh start as the resulting product shows:
- An unusual material, high pressure laminated
   plywood that refers to scandinavian design traditions
   and gives appropriate warm associations,
- White colour that gets attention while fitting in most
   interiors,
- Functional, the tools slide in groves and are “clicked”
   in place by magnets embossed in the back plate.
- A simple, strongly graphical form attenuated by
   rounded corners and soft textures. The fireplace set
   has become a piece of furniture.

Design of a car body for NTNU’s participation in Shell
Eco marathon 2011 in cooperation with mechanical
engineering students. The car is to participate in the
Urban Class of this fuel-efficiency contest which
consists in driving as far as possible with the equivalent
of 1 liter of fuel.

The issue was to design an urban, user friendly car
compatible with extreme fuel efficiency, which trans-
lates to optimal aerodynamic properties when it comes
to body design.

More specifically the challenge turned out to be devel-
opping an aesthetically functioning car body that would
fit in highly unusual measurements, very small and short
shape with big, narrow wheels.

Design of a family of salt, pepper and sugar shakers
using Corian.

Features:
- Each member of the family relates to each other on
  the same level of differentiation.
- The shapes take advantage of the material’s hard-
  ness and precision while being softened by choice of
  texture and rounded details.
- The main idea is to propose a way of using left-over
  pieces of Corian at specialised workshops and form
  them (bending, cutting, gluing, sanding) instead of
  machining a solid block.
- The shakers stand as analog, hand-made shapes
  and give this cold, mineral material an unexpected
  warmth.

of the newly available RFID-tagging technology in
grocery stores by designing the user interface of a
smart-phone application.

- This project provided good insight in the design
  process for user interface with special weight on
  iterative user testing.
- The final result is an application that focuses on
  an intuitive user experience and a clear, logical
  structure.

  • 3. Kjeldsberg Kaffebrenneri Strategy. Branding. Packaging. Coffee sales volumes have been stagnating for this local, medium-sized producer. This project was initiated as an effort to reverse the trend and better penetrate the market. After analysing the market, the brand’s product range and general marketing trends we concluded that the is- sue was to meet a wider market in a more effective way. Our solution was targetting a new, wider audience and increase quality and added value by aiming at the upper-middle segment. To that effect we introduced a new brand, “Real K” with a new line of products that features: - higher quality blends - associations to a friendly familial business, “the small factory by the harbor” which is Kjeldsberg’s core identity. Autronica Light guide Fire Detector Introducing AutroGuard: Autronica’s next Protective Cover generation smoke detector. / Top of optical chamber • A discrete, adaptable and timeless smoke detector that delivers premium functional- ity to every customer.   • 8. Norsk Flid Fireplace Set Product Design, Manufacturing.
  • 9. Norsk Flid Fireplace Set Product Design, Manufacturing. “Birk” is the result of a project initiated by advertising agency Bennett AS for the store chain Norsk Flid. The topic was “modern re-interpretation of a traditional Norwegian object”. We chose to base our project on the typically stout fireplace set and adapt it to modern interiors and user patterns. We proceeded by re-interpretating this object and give it a fresh start as the resulting product shows: - An unusual material, high pressure laminated plywood that refers to scandinavian design traditions and gives appropriate warm associations, - White colour that gets attention while fitting in most interiors, - Functional, the tools slide in groves and are “clicked” in place by magnets embossed in the back plate. - A simple, strongly graphical form attenuated by rounded corners and soft textures.   • 19. Shell Eco Marathon Car body Design Form Development Design of a car body for NTNU’s participation in Shell Eco marathon 2011 in cooperation with mechanical engineering students. The car is to participate in the Urban Class of this fuel-efficiency contest which consists in driving as far as possible with the equivalent of 1 liter of fuel. The issue was to design an urban, user friendly car compatible with extreme fuel efficiency, which trans- lates to optimal aerodynamic properties when it comes to body design. More specifically the challenge turned out to be devel- opping an aesthetically functioning car body that would fit in highly unusual measurements, very small and short shape with big, narrow wheels. Features: - Each member of the family relates to each other on the same level of differentiation. - The shapes take advantage of the material’s hard- ness and precision while being softened by choice of texture and rounded details. - The main idea is to propose a way of using left-over pieces of Corian at specialised workshops and form them (bending, cutting, gluing, sanding) instead of machining a solid block. - The shakers stand as analog, hand-made shapes and give this cold, mineral material an unexpected warmth.
