The start of a project…
Joseph McMicking, an American, founded Sotogrande in Cadiz in the South of Spain in 1962,
with a dream to develop an idyllic luxury residential community to live, have a vacation home or
enjoy a grand holiday, built around the tradition, rich history and natural endowments of the region
in an area covering 4,934 acres. Teaming with Robert Trent Jones, the great world renowned golf
designer, he also built the Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande in the sixties and brought world class

Cap Cana is home to the Jack Nicklaus-designed signature golf course, Punta Espada, which is
host of one of the regular stops of the PGA Champions Tour since 2007. Punta Espada, for the
second consecutive year, was rated by Golfweek Magazine in its November 2009 issue as the best
golf course in the Caribbean and Mexico by Golfweek Magazine; ranked 46 among the best 100
