In November of 2016, Smile Train announced a joint initiative
with Dr. Brown’s, a manufacturer of baby-feeding products.
Through the initiative, a part of the revenues from the
company’s Specialty Feeding System will help underwrite
Smile Train’s efforts to provide cleft surgery for 100 children.

3.  Approximately one out of every 700 children in developing
nations is born with a cleft, making it the most common birth
defect in these countries. Smile Train’s mission is to provide
surgical remedies and postoperative care to children with
clefts for free.
Dr. Brown’s Specialty Feeding System was developed with the
assistance of medical professionals to help infants with clefts
and other barriers that make oral feeding difficult. The system
that Dr. Brown’s employs makes use of a special valve that
helps infants better regulate liquid flow when they are feeding.
