Tour Overview:
In this tour, you have an opportunity to
discover one of the most remote parts of
Northern Laos, Phongsali province. With
marvelous stunning mountains, any trekkers
or those who love adventure will be

allows you to enjoy one of the most scenic
rivers and holly cave, Pak Ou Cave, in Laos

Day 1: Luang Prabang - Udomxai - Boun Tai Town
Day 2: Boun Tai Town - Nam Ly Village - Lyzyzo Village
Day 3: Lyzyzo Village - Roma Village

Day 5: Phongsali - Hadsa Neua - Muang Khua

Tour itinerary:
Day 1: Luang Prabang - Udomxai - Boun Tai Town (L, D)
In the morning, you are picked up at your hotel in Luang Prabang. We are heading north
on the Road No 13. There is time for visiting to some peaceful villages of the Thai Lu,
Thai Neua and Khmu on the way. We stop for lunch in Udomxai in a local restaurant.
After lunch, we can take a short walk to explore the tidy and comely town of Udomxai.
We then continue to Boun Tai via Muang La. Boun Tai is a small Thai Lu town which is
popular as a rest stop for people traveling to Phongsali. You have dinner and overnight in
a Thai Lu house.
Day 2: Boun Tai Town - Nam Ly Village - Lyzyzo Village (B, L, D)
You enjoy sunrise breakfast at the home-stay and then depart for Nam Ly Village of the
Akha ethnic minority, Nam Ly is 3-hr driving from Boun Tai and is the starting point for
our trek to discover Phongsali. We will trek through a quiet valley with beautiful

landscape. Lunch will be served at a scenic spot. After lunch, we continue trekking
through the valley and reach Lyzyzo Village of the Akha where we spend our night. You
have dinner and overnight in local house.
Day 3: Lyzyzo Village - Roma Village (B, L, D)
Today you will experience the hard part of
the trek that leads us through a hilly area.
We would encounter the Akha walking from
village to village. A conversation with them
would help us to learn about their culture
and life. The path is more uphill than
downhill but offer and nice spots for rest
stops. We stop for lunch en route.
After lunch, we continue our trek uphill for
about 3 hours. The path is cut with streams
which are not our obstacles but our nice refreshing points. We reach Roma Village of the
Akha in the late afternoon. We have dinner and overnight in local house.
Day 4: Roma - Ban Nam Ly – Phongsali (B, L, D)
Early get up for breakfast, we continue through valley with beautiful landscape. We
would past several villages of the Akha. As we get to the top of a small mountain we will
enjoy lunch. After lunch, you have another short trek to Ban Nam Ly Village. We have a
short rest there before taking 4-hr transfer to Phongsali where we spend another night in
local house. Dinner will be served there.
Day 5: Phongsali - Hadsa Neua - Muang Khua (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we take a short drive from Phongsali to Hadsa Neua. From here, we take
tong-tail boat ride on the scenic Nam Ou River to Muang Khua. It takes about 5 hours
with a stop for picnic lunch. We reach Muang Khua in late afternoon. We will stay
overnight in a guest house in Muang Khua.
Day 6: Muang Khua - Muang Ngoi (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we embark on a long tail boat to cruise down on Nam Ou River from
Muang Khua to Muang Ngoi. The long tail boat ride allows us to visit local villages
nesting along the riverside. A picnic lunch is served on the river side. We have many
chances to enjoy beautiful landscape.
We eventually arrive in Muong Ngoi, a small town surrounded by beautiful scenery and
lime stone mountains. We have dinner and stay overnight in a local guest house.

Day 7: Muang Ngoi - Nong Khiaw - Luang Prabang (B, L)
After breakfast, we continue cruising down the Nam Ou River. Lunch will be served at a
local restaurant before we arrive to Pak Ou Cave. The Nam Ou River feeds the mighty
Mekong, facing infamous Pak Ou Cave or Tham Ting.
After visiting the cave, we continue our boat trip on Mekong River to Luang Prabang.
There is time to visit some of the villages along the Mekong River. We may have an
opportunity to enjoy the sunset while cruising downstream. Upon arrival, we have a
transfer to your hotel. Trip ends
Trip Notes:
Food
All meals, which are indicated in the itinerary, are included in the price of this trip. In big
towns we will enjoy Laotian cuisine in fine restaurants. Once we travel away from big
towns, the emphasis will be on healthy and nutritious fresh local produce. Please inform
us at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirement.
Hotel & Home-stay
In main cities we use the finest 3-star with centre location. In remote towns we use the
best accommodation available.
Home stay in villages is basic in term of bedding condition and toilet. We will stay
overnight in the traditional house of the locals. We will be provided with mattress, clean
sheet, pillows and mosquito nets. Toilet could be some steps away from the house.
Tour guide
The tour will be guided by our local tour guides who are experienced in guiding culture
tour and trekking tours. They have been carefully trained in their field. They are also
fully licensed in tour guiding by the government. In addition, they have been trained in
first-aid and they know how to deal with difficult situations. You will have a great time
traveling with them.
The trekking day
A typical trekking day starts at about 8.00 am or 8.30 am after breakfast. Lunch times can
vary depending on the distance. We aim to reach the next overnight stop by 4.30 pm or
5.00 pm. During the trek we will have short breaks for rest, snack and photographing.

What to bring
Hat, sun-scream, torch, swim suit and sarong for bathing, clothes/shoes to get wet,
mosquito repellent, warm change of clothes for the evening.
