Reading Comprehension

Read the following magazine article and do the exercises that follow.

                                   HEALTHY EATING ?
 Big country

Over 1 million children in England are obese. That’s a massive 1 in 25 young people under
sixteen. 1 in 10 is overweight. Doctors are worried because being overweight is bad for
your health. It can also make you feel bad about yourself.

Children are getting fatter because they are eating more junk food and snacks than ever
before. They are also doing less exercise and spending more time in front of the TV or
computer. The sizes of portions have also got bigger so we are eating more than before.

 Fast food

Most young people know that fast food isn’t healthy but that doesn’t stop them from
eating it. Americans eat more fast food than other nationalities.
There are over 300.000 fast food restaurants in the US, plus there is fast food available in
 most school canteens.

    I. Choose the appropriate answer to these questions about the article and write the
corresponding letter on the answer sheet.

   0. What do teenagers mostly eat in Great Britain? a) junk food b) organic food c) healthy food
   1. Why are children getting fatter? Because they are a) doing less exercise b) eating a lot of
healthy food c) watching less TV
   2. What is affected if you are overweight? a) your body b) your body and feelings c) nothing
   3. How much fast food do people in the USA eat? a) more than in other countries b) less than in
other countries c) the same as in other countries
                                                                                          / 3 marks
II. Read the article again and find the information required, write your answers on the answer
         sheet.

             0. a country England
             1. a profession
             2. a number
             3. kinds of food

Inspección de Inglés - 2nd Term Test Level A2 3

       Now, read the passages below.

       Michelle Obama’s vegetable garden
Barack and Michelle like eating healthily. Michelle has created a
vegetable garden in the White House with peppers, tomatoes,
spinach and salad. Growing vegetables means for Michelle eating
more healthily but above all, respecting the planet. Therefore,
pollution caused by transporting food products from one place to
       another is reduced.

                                    Leonardo DiCaprio
He’s the “greenest” star of Hollywood. He has bought an apartment
in Manhattan which is probably the most ecological in the world. It’s
located in an apartment block which uses heat from the Earth and
the Sun, and also has a roof garden. Residents only eat organic food
and the car park is for electric cars. Leonardo gets around New York
                                    by bicycle.

III. Now, match these pieces of information with Michelle / Leonardo or both ( Michelle and
Leonardo), copy the names on the separate answer sheet.
