Teaching writing reflection
1. Teaching Writing Reflection
Gabriela Quezada Cabezas
As futures teachers-to-be at the moment of teaching writing we need to keep in
mind the process of writing and the process of giving feedback to our students. This will
help them to improve their writing skill, and also they are going to know what they are
doing wrong and how they can improve it. Through the process of writing we can teach
our students not only how to organize the structure of a text but also, about the content
and the vocabulary that they are using.
As teachers-to-be we need to challenge our students to write in a foreign
language, this will help them to improve their knowledge related to foreign language and
also to improve the academic writing process due to they are going to be more aware of
the type of words and structure that they are using. Teaching writing is not a very
common activity in secondary Chilean schools and we as futures teachers need to change
that, we need to increase the amount of activities related to writing in order to improve
our students skills and abilities; moreover there is a possibility that if they are good at
writing they are going to be good at reading because they are going to be accustomed to
deal with certain types of structures and advanced vocabulary.
