Sept 8, 2011 Volume: 1 | Issue: 389| November 1, 2010 INDIAN MARKET * 07-Sep 06-Sep % Change COMMENTARY BSE Sensex 17,065 16,863 1.20 INDIA NSE Nifty 5,125 5,064 1.20 BSE Midcap 6,474 6,394 1.24 Indian markets had a positive session on Wednesday, with the main indices notching strong gains on the BSE Smallcap 7,307 7,197 1.53 back of a global surge in equities and persistent inflows from the overseas investors. The Nifty recaptured Nifty Junior 10,333 10,152 1.78 the 5100 mark while the BSE Sensex re-conquered the 17,000 level. The rally was not restricted to the Large- Caps only, with the non-index counters also joining the party. Markets extended the upswing led by CNX Midcap 7,508 7,398 1.49 sustained strength in Realty, Power, Capital Goods and the Banking space. The BSE Mid-Cap index gained 1.2%, while BSE Small-Cap index added 1.5%. Markets started off with smart gains amid positive cues from the Asian markets. The gains accelerated after European indices posted solid gains following a recent GLOBAL MARKETS 07-Sep 06-Sep % Change drubbing. FII inflows have gained some traction lately which has partly been the driving force behind the Dow Jones Ind (USA) 11,415 11,139 2.48 recovery from recent lows. Finally, the BSE Sensex ended at 17,065, adding 202 points. The NSE Nifty closed Nasdaq Composite(USA) 2,549 2,474 3.04 at 5,125, up 60 points. S&P 500 (USA) 1,199 1,165 2.90 BSE market breadth was positive. Out of 2,960 stocks traded, 1,823 stocks advanced while 1,004 stocks FTSE 100 (UK) 5,319 5,157 3.14 declined on the BSE.
