2. Introduction
I came to Austin’s
Colony because we
needed to go
somewhere so my
parents could
support our family.
We came from our
run down wagon
waiting for
something to call
home.
3. Introduction
When we went to
the West it was very
dry and hot but it
seemed nice, I think
I’m going to like this
place!
4. 1822
My mom and I went
to see how the
weather was outside
and it was a
blizzard! Trees were
being knocked
down, it was bad.
We went to go check
on the cattle and the
trees fell on the
barnyard!
5. 1822
We called for help
and found out all our
cattle were dead.
We started to build
but we needed
lumber. And
theLivelywas late so
we were almost
broke.
6. 1823
We found out the
Lively had sank.
There was a dispute
with Mexicans over
the export of cotton.
It was a wonderful
year for the cattle.
7. 1823
It was a very mild
winter. There was a
small demand for
the lumber. And not
a lot of building.
8. 1824
The colony was very
successful. The
crops were doing
well and growing like
they should.
9. 1824
Then there was a
HIGH demand for
lumber, and lots of
building. And more
demand for beef.
10. Concluding
At the end of the
year my family lost a
lot of money. From
living in La Bahia,
since we were so far
in the border that
Indians attacked us.
11. Concluding
So, our family lost
$2,000 dollars. We
are going to go up
north. At least now I
know that I had a
wonderful time here
and hope to live
better up north!
