August 14-16, 2015, the Off-
shore Powerboat Association
will host the Fall River Grand
Prix in Fall River, MA.
Offshore Powerboat Associa-
tion (OPA) racing is an off-
shore boat racing sanctioning
body offering unparalleled
excitement on waterfronts
along the east coast.
Offshore powerboat racing is
one of the most exciting
forms of motorsports racing
available today. Over recent
years, the sport has moved
from long distance offshore
point to point races to more of
a circuit style race held as
close to beachfronts as
possible for improved view-
ing.
Offshore racing draws a
wide variety of fans and in-
terest from companies as the
boats themselves are high
performance works of art
designed to race on a course
that has an ever changing
surface that is unpredictable
at best. The boats race in the
ocean or on fresh water
lakes. The expense of the
equipment, fuel and travel
required to participate in this
sport draws an elite spectator
base.

base for offshore racing is
primarily college educated,
married individuals with

same course at the same
time. Boats most com-
monly seen in offshore
racing include single or
twin piston engine V-
bottom boats, single or
twin piston engine catama-
ran style boats, and turbine
powered boats. Depend-
ing on the class, speeds
vary from 60mph to 180
mph.
Race courses are diverse
from first timers to experi-
enced kayakers can enjoy a
day on the river.”
