Then get an audience member to put a chopstick into the ‘regular rice’ and you do the same with the ‘light rice’ The audience member will be unable to carry his bottle, but you will. You then prove that the both bottles contain the same amount of rice by pouring the rice onto the tray. Try to pour your ‘light rice’ a few seconds before pouring your ‘regular rice’ to create an illusion that both bottles contain the same amount of rice.
5. Explanation: This trick works due to friction. As rice is a solid, it will have great difficulty going up the neck of the bottle. The rice goes up the neck of the bottle due to the chopstick having a need for space. Since the packed rice has very little room to move, it tends to press against the sides of the bottle.
