things are located. For example:
This is your notebook. (Near, singular)
That is my house. (Far, singular)
Are these your shoes? (Near, plural)
Those aren’t apples. Those are pears. (Far,
plural)
4. Use THIS for only one object
that is near or not very far
from you. For example:
This is my cat.
5. Use THAT for an object that
is far from you. For example:
That is my car.
6. Use THESE for things that
are near or not very far from
you. For example:
Karen’s keys are these.
7. Use THOSE for things that are
far from you. For example:
I want those earrings.
8. As you see, this, that, these and those can
be used at the beginning, in the middle and
at the end of the sentences.
This is our house. Our car is that. Now, let me

9. Youusually write demonstrative adjectives
before the noun that you are talking about.
Kate and Cindy are those girls.
10. Exception:when you use the adjective at the
end of the sentences, you don’t have to
write the noun again.
