1. Elizabeth Blackwell was born on February 21, 1821, she
died 89 years later on May 31, 1910, and she was born in
Bristol, England. She had two brothers and one sister.
Blackwell and her siblings were denied public schooling and
she moved to North America when she was 11. Her father was
a dissenter (Person who refuses the authority of churches).
She had many accomplishments in her 89-year-old life.
She was a very intriguing woman. She was the first
woman to graduate from medical school in the United States.
She still inspires many women today to graduate college and
become a doctor. She was a woman people looked up to in the
world. In the late 1860s she opened up a medical school for
women.
Blackwell made a big contribution to science because she
made medicine and being a doctor attainable for women. She
also helped people who were hurt.
