Abstract: Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has become the most popular modulation echnique for high speed data transmission. But the great disadvantage of the OFDM technique is its high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR). In this paper, the Selected Mapping (SLM) technique and Clipping and Differential Scaling is applied to Space Frequency Block Coded (SFBC) OFDM systems to reduce the PAPR with Alamouti coding scheme. In SLM technique, different representations of OFDM symbols are generated by rotation of the original OFDM frame by different phase sequences, and the signal with minimum PAPR is selected and transmitted. To compensate for the effect of the phase rotation at the receiver, it is necessary to transmit the index of the selected phase sequence as side information (SI). Additionally, a suboptimum detection method that does not need SI is introduced at the receiver side. In Clipping and Differential Scaling technique, the amplitude of complex OFDM signal is clipped and then scaled in such a way so that the PAPR is reduced without causing much degradation in bit error rate (BER). The threshold values for clipping and scaling is determined using Monte Carlo Simulations. Simulation results show that the SLM method and Clipping and Scaling method effectively reduce the PAPR. Keywords: Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), peak to average power ratio (PAPR), selected mapping (SLM), space frequency block coded (SFBC), Side information (SI), high power amplifiers (HPA), complementary cumulative density function (CCDF), inter-symbol interference (ISI).

Abstract: The spectrum available for the wireless services is limited, the increased demand of wireless application has put a lot of limitations on the utilization of available radio spectrum. For the efficient spectrum utilization for wireless application IEEE 802.22 standard i.e. WRAN (Wireless Regional Area Network) is developed which is based on cognitive radio technique that senses the free available spectrum. It allows sharing of geographically unused channels allocated to the TV Broadcast Service, without interference. In this paper we are evaluating the performance of WRAN over physical layer with QPSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM modulation with Convolution coding with code rate of 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 5/6 and obtaining the BER curves for rician channel. Abstract: Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) which combines mobile computing and cloud computing, has become one of the industry buzz words and a major discussion thread in the IT world since 2009. Despite increasing usage of mobile computing, exploiting its full potential is difficult due to its inherent problems such as resource scarcity, frequent disconnections, and mobility. MCC integrates the cloud computing into the mobile environment and overcomes obstacles related to the performance (e.g., battery life, storage, and bandwidth), environment (e.g., heterogeneity, scalability, and availability), and security (e.g., reliability and privacy) discussed in mobile computing. As MCC is still at the early stage of development, it is necessary to grasp a thorough understanding of the technology in order to point out the direction of future research. With the latter aim, this paper presents a review on the background and principle of MCC, characteristics, recent research work, and future research trends. The need for larger capacities in long haul optical digital transmission lead to greater channel density which can be achieved by wavelength division multiplexing and increasing the bit rate of each channel. As data rates increases, certain phenomena such as dispersion began to show up as obstacles. At higher bit rates beyond 2.5Gbps polarization mode dispersion (PMD) becomes a main factor in the degradation of the transmission characteristics. PMD occurs when slightly different planes of light inside a fiber travel at slightly different speeds and make it impossible to transmit data reliably at high speed in single mode fibers. PMD is caused due to optical birefringence in the fiber due to which the two modes within a single mode fiber travel with different group velocities and the random change of this birefringence along the fiber length results in random coupling between the modes. This effect of PMD results in broadening of transmitted pulses that limit the transmission capacity of the fiber. In high-speed optical communication systems working at data rates of 10Gbps and beyond, signal distortion caused by PMD is also a major limitation of the transmission distance. This paper intends to analyze the performance of PMD compensation by optical compensation technique and using DCF in a two channel WDM system. The analysis is done through eye diagrams from which the Q value and bit error rate can be determined by simulating with OptSim5.3, which includes the latest simulation algorithms to guarantee the highest possible accuracy and real world results

The aim of this paper is to estimate the mean monthly values of clearness index in five meteorological stations in Iraq (Mosul , Kirkuk , Rutba , Baghdad , Nasiriya) for the period (1970-2000) using different meteorological parameters. Five different models (Linear , Quadratic , Logarithmic , Linear logarithmic , Power) were used to estimate clearness index. The performance of this regression models were evaluated by comparing the calculated clearness index and the measured clearness index . Several statistical tests were used to control the validation and goodness of the regression models in terms of correlation coefficient, coefficient of determination , Mean absolute error and root mean square error . Results showed that Linear model between (KT & n/N) and between (KT & Rainfall) were the best fit in all stations. Quadratic model were the best fit between (KT & cloudiness) , and power model were the best fit between (KT &Evaporation). Linear model and Quadratic model were the best fit between (KT & RH) , while power model , Quadratic model , and Linear model were the best fit between (KT & Tmean).

Abstract: ALLOY–90 refers to a family of austenitic nickel-based super alloys. Nimonic alloys typically consist of roughly 80% nickel and 20% chromium with additives such as titanium and aluminium. Nickel-based superalloys, among several high temperature structural alloys, are the prime materials for numerous advanced high temperature structural components. Several advanced processing technologies, such as isothermal forging, equiangle extrusion, investment casting, directional solidification and single crystal technologies, similar and dissimilar metal joining, destructive and non- destructive testing too have also evolved. In the past, a few attempts have been made to study the deformation behavior and Fracture behavior of the alloy 90 sheets for sheet metal applications. However, these studies were limited to different commercial grades such as cold rolled sheets of thicknesses upto 2 mm. None of these studies have addressed the influence of microstructure and texture for ultra-thin sheet applications. Hence, a comprehensive study has been undertaken to evaluate the ambient temperature deformation characteristics as a function of degree of cold rolling and ageing. In order to determine the tensile properties, tensile tests are conducted on the alloy-90 sheets of 1 mm and 0.5 mm thicknesses in different heat treat conditions in different specimen orientations namely R, R+30º, R+45º, R+60º and RT. The fracture behavior of the alloy sheets are studied to determine the mode of fracture. present work includes comparison of tensile properties of macro and micro specimens of alloy 90 sheet and properties evaluated in the present work include tensile flow behavior in various microstructural conditions such as Cold rolled, Solution treated, aged for different times. Key words: Formability, Alloy 90, Impact

Despite of so many unique and natural beauties the North-eastern region of India is still place of least visited in India. Though the Government of India has been providing the financial assistance for development of tourist Infrastructure and promotion and marketing, the performances and development of the tourism in states is totally different. In this context, the present paper examines the tourism in North-eastern states of India. Major findings are the inflows of tourists are higher in Assam state and lower in Nagaland. Tourism sectors share in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is high in Assam. As for the growth rate of tourists’ influx is concerned, the growth rate in Arunachal Pradesh is much higher with 55 percent compared to other states. Further, the Density of Tourist Population (DTP) and The Percapita Tourist arrival (PCT) is high in Sikkim with 101.57 and 1.19 respectively and lowest in Nagaland with 1.35 and 0.01. The major constraints of North-east tourism development and uneven performance among states are insufficient funds, lack of infrastructure, transportation, lack of alternatives means of transport, Marketing, boundary issues, terror effect and permit period. Steps should be taken to wipe-out the constraints for tourism development.

Simulation is performed in MATLAB. Keywords - CC, CP, CR, OFDMA, PHY Layer, WRAN
