A typical reliability coaching program
The initial meeting should be in person, if possible. We discuss your goals for yourself and your reliability program.
We get to know each other and begin to create a plan for the coaching program, including major milestones and a
rough timeline. Then we meet weekly (phone, teleconference, videoconference, as agreed) to discuss today’s and
the immediate future’s challenges and next steps. These focus on what you need and often includes discussions on:
– how to use reliability engineering tools such as FMEA or HALT – how to build a reliability program plan – how to
build a reliability program – how to find and analyze essential reliability performance data – how to be an effective
communicator (writing, presenting, & meetings) – how to prioritize on most valuable reliability activities for your
situation
We set a regular time each week to talk. This is supported by quick calls for questions, updates, changes, etc. Plus,
you have access to me with email also for questions or just to explore an idea.
You can have me review documents, reports, test plans, project plans, vendor data, etc. I’ll comment and make
recommendations which we can discuss.
I separate my consulting practice from coaching by not doing the original research or creating documents.
You have direct access to me and we’re under a non-disclosure agreement so we can discuss program and project
details.
Initially I recommend we hold regular sessions for at least 4 months, then on a month to month basis, as needed.
