Dealing with server management is often very different from managing client devices in the enterprise. In this session, Kent Agerlund Chief Technical Architect @ Coretech Global, demonstrates some of the tools and solutions used to successfully manage servers in the enterprise. He also discusses how you can integrate Flexera Software's Corporate Software Inspector into your enterprise client management strategy.

How to Engage
As I mentioned earlier KPI’s are important when managing servers likewise are visions! We have a vision, and that’s not just show up at 8 in the morning and leave by 5! No, we want to standadize, automate, simplify and document what we do. Why you might ask? – because by doing that we can show up at 09 and still be out of the door by 4:30 Neaaj, just kidding, but it will give us a better econmy, we will be able to solve more tasks and at the same time look like the superheros that we all know you are.....
Let’s look at the sceario. Our customers in the organization expects us to deliver and maintain servers all the time. When ordering those servers, we are expected to deliver an operating system, a management agent, monitoring agent, backup, protection and the needed tools, drivers and applications.
But looking at the reality today, are we really in control. Do you know if all the servers after handover still have the agent/application you installed and in what condition and version?
Raising servers to the new baseline do not happen at the same time but in a controlled manner during the predefined maintenance window.
And as with anything else, once we have reached the baseline, the next baseline is most likely defined, new updates, new app updates and agent updates. New sets of documentation has to be written etc etc.
