1. Markets end in green for fourth straight session; Sensex @ all-time closing

Following a weak start amidst sluggish global cues, Indian indices remained cautious on mixed global cues. However,
benchmarks recovered their lost ground after Chidambaram assured global investors that India is well prepared to face
the impact of the US Fed tapering. Moreover, Economic Affairs Secretary Arvind Mayaram also sounded optimistic
while stating that easing WPI inflation has improved the chances for a rate cut to boost economic growth. Sensex
edged 36 points higher to close at its all time closing high level. On BSE sectorial front, Consumer Durable topped the
charts while Automobile counters led by M&M ended on losing sides.
Among global peers, US indices traded mixed whereas Asian markets plunged China’s factory PMI fell for the first time
in six months indicating a weak start of 2014. Moreover, European indices also traded on a mixed note.
Key Quarterly Results
Capital Goods giant, Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) posted a modest 6.75% rise in its Q3 Net Sales at Rs 14387.51
crore. The Net Profit for the same period grew 10.6% to Rs 1240.7 crore as against Rs 1121.75 crore for the
corresponding quarter a year earlier. L&T stock was the smart mover on BSE Sensex and gained 2.81%. (Featured

Dabur India reported 16% growth in Q3FY14 Net at Rs 182.57 crore as compared to Rs 157.42 crore for the same
quarter in the previous year. On the consolidated basis, the group’s Net rose 15% at Rs 243 crore for the quarter as
compared to Rs 211 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Dabur shares gained 0.56% on BSE at Rs

Indian Bank posted 20% fall in Q3 Net at Rs 264.5 crore as compared to Rs 330.6 crore for the same quarter in the
previous year. Bank’s Net NPA stood at 2.25% as compared to 2.17% in the same quarter of the previous year. The

Bharti Infratel has recorded a rise of 50.20% in its net profit at Rs 227.70 crore in Q3FY14 as against Rs 151.60 crore
in the corresponding quarter previous year. On consolidated basis the company has reported 61.55% growth in its net
profit at Rs 410.50 crore as compared to Rs 254.10 crore for corresponding quarter in previous financial year. The

Biocon Ltd has reported a 25.25% dip in its Q3 Net Profit at Rs 59.96 crore as against 80.21 crore for same quarter
previous year. Company’s Net Revenues grew just 3.87% to Rs 526.3 crore versus Rs 506.7 crore during Q3FY12-13.
The stock was hammered 5.74% on BSE to Rs 451.65. (Result)
T h e market breadth on the BSE closed in negative. Advancing and declining stocks were 1303 and 1489
respectively, while 145 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 21373.66, up 35.99 points or 0.17%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of
21409.66 and 21264.71 respectively. 14 stocks advanced against 16 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty gained 6.70 points or 0.11% to settle at 6345.65. The index touched high and low of 6355.60 and
6316.40 respectively. 25 stocks advanced against 24 declining ones on the index.

The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved down to 6564.27 and lost 0.48% while S&P BSE Small-cap index hammered
down by 0.12% to 6563.03.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index decreased to 7807.23 (down 0.03%) and CNX 500 index declined to 4903.50 (down
0.01%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 1.70% at 15.58 from its previous close of 15.85 on Wednesday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, Consumer Durables (up 2.33%), Capital Goods (up 1.84%) and FMCG (up 0.14%) were
the top gainers.

Larsen And Toubro Ltd (up 2.81%), Axis Bank (up 2.48%), GAIL (India) Ltd (up 2.23%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries
Ltd (up 1.90%) and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (up 1.64%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (down 2.82%), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (down 1.33%), NTPC Ltd (down
1.09%), Coal India Ltd (down 0.99%) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (down 0.89%) were the top losers on the
Sensex.

(14.55 points), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (-13.85 points) and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-13.77 points) were the

On the other end Larsen And Toubro Ltd (6.80 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (6.49 points),
Infosys Ltd (3.77 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-3.68 points) and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (-3.53 points)
were the major Nifty movers today.
