3. An input device is any peripheral (piece of computer hardware equipment) used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system (such as a computer ). Input and output devices make up the hardware interface between a computer as a scanner or 6DOF controller. What is an Input Devices:
4. It is a peripheral devices used to Input text and other data in the computer It is an input devices used for clicking, Pointing, and dragging object in The computer. Common Input devices:
5. A scanner is a device that can read text or illustrations printed on paper and translate the information into a form the computer can use. A scanner works by digitizing an image -- dividing it into a grid of boxesand representing each box with either a zero or a one, depending on whether the box is filled in. (For color and gray scaling, the same principle applies, but each box is then represented by up to 24 bits.) The resulting matrix of bits, called a bit map, can then bestored in a file, displayed on a screen , and manipulated by programs. A joystick is an input device consisting of a stick that pivots on a base and reports its angle or direction to the device it is controlling. Joysticks are often used to control video games, and usually have one or more push-buttons whose state can also be read by the computer. Common Input devices: ( Cont.)
6. Computer processing cycle the stages in which the computer uses to process data that that has been sent into the computer by the input and some of these devices are the keyboard, mouse etc. After this stage the data has to be processed , so the data goes into the micro processor to be processed into information. When the data is produced or processed, it has to come out , so it is brought out through the output or output devices like printer and the monitor. After that it has to be stored ,so it can be stored in devices like cd rom, pendrives and even thecomputer memory{harddisk} How data is being processed ?
7. What is a Storage device? A data storage device is a device for recording (storing) information (data). Recording can be done using virtually any form of energy , spanning from manual muscle power in handwriting , to acoustic vibrations in phonographic recording, to electromagnetic energy modulating magnetic tape and optical discs . A storage device may hold information, process information, or both. A device that only holds information is a recording medium . Devices that process information (data storage equipment) may either access a separate portable (removable) recording medium or a permanent component to store and retrieve information.
8. Magnetic storage uses different patterns of magnetization on a magnetically coated surface to store information. Magnetic storage is non-volatile . The information is accessed using one or more read/write heads which may contain one or more recording transducers. A read/write head only covers a part of the surface so that the head or medium or both must be moved relative to another inorder to access data. In modern computers, magnetic storage will take these forms: Magnetic disk Floppy disk , used for off-line storage Hard disk drive , used for secondary storage The USB mass storage device class or USB MSC or UMS is a set of computing communications protocols defined by the USB Implementers Forum that run on the Universal Serial Bus . The standard provides an interface to a variety of storage devices. Some of the devices which are connected to computers via this standard are: external magnetic hard drives external optical drives, including CD and DVD reader and writer drives portable flash memory devices adapters bridging between standard flash memory cards and a USB connection digital cameras various digital audio players & portable media players Card readers Common Storage Devices:
9. Optical storage , the typical Optical disc , stores information in deformities on the surface of a circular disc and reads this information by illuminating thesurface with a laser diode and observing the reflection. Optical disc storageis non-volatile . The deformities may bepermanent (read only media ), Formed once (write once media) or reversible (recordable or read/write media). The following forms are currently in common use: [11] CD , CD-ROM , DVD , BD-ROM : Read only storage, used for mass distribution of digital information (music, video, computer programs) CD-R , DVD-R , DVD+R BD-R : Write once storage, used for tertiary and off-line storage CD-RW , DVD-RW , DVD+RW , DVD-RAM , BD-RE : Slow write, fast read storage, used for tertiary and off-line storage Ultra Density Optical or UDO is similar in capacity to BD-R or BD-RE and is slow write, fast read storage used for tertiary and off-line storage. Common Storage Devices: (Cont.)
10. An output device is any piece of computer hardware equipment used to communicate the results of data processing carried out by an information processing system (such as a computer ) to the outside world. In computing, input/output , or I/O, refers to the communication between an information processing system (such as a computer ), and the outside world. Inputs are the signals or data sent to the system, and outputs are the signals or data sent by the system to the outside of What is an Output device?
11. PC-Speaker is a driver for the modest sound output device that comes standard with most (perhaps all?) IBM PC clones. It is installed as part of the kernel or as a loadable module; either way, the kernel needs to be changed. PC-Speaker comes with a small set of programs to use with it—I have compiled these programs on my system without trouble. Most computers use this display as the main output device There are two different types of display Desktop Monitors : These work in much the same way as a television set. Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs) : These displays are completely flat and so can be used in portable computers and other small devices such as calculators. They are more expensive to make than desktop monitors. Common Output devices:
12. In computing, a printer is a peripheral which produces a hard copy (permanent readable text and/or graphics) of documents stored in electronic form, usually on physical print media such as paper or transparencies. Headphones are a pair of small loudspeakers , or less commonly a single speaker, with a way of holding them close to a user's ears and a means of connecting them to a signal source such as an audio amplifier , radio or CD player .
