Sexual Health Promotion & Learning Disability Training Courses is an essential course for anyone working with or caring for individuals with learning disabilities. Historically, professionals working in the learning disability field have been reluctant to address the sexual health issues of their service users because of the issues around safeguarding and abuse. This often results in the individuals concerned being deprived of their sexual rights and not being given adequate information to make informed choices. This course will enable participants to discuss sexual health issues with individuals with learning disabilities and assess service user’s capacity to consent to sexual relationships. Relevant legislation will be examined and applied to working with individuals with a learning disability. Learners will also get the opportunity to take part in activities suitable for use with individuals with learning disabilities and assess their usefulness for the client group they work with. Before attending this course, participants should attend our Sexual Health Awareness course.
