audience for your media

2. Usually teen films are targeted at teenagers from the age of 13 to 19. However many adults
also enjoy watching it has it may emphasise themes and consist of conventions which relate
to their daily lifestyle.
Our chosen sub-genre for our film is chick-flick with lots of reference to culture and religion. I
strongly believe this is the unique selling-point of our film as there are not so many Islamic
teen films which relate to the context of culture and the experience of such a sensitive
topic/issue which is faced by many young teenage girls but simply ignored.
Generally teenage girls would be more interested because of the genre and context of our
film, however the wider audience would most probably consist of parents as they would
possibly want an insight into their daughter’s/son’s life.

3. From looking at the profile picture we can automatically tell this viewer is a female
Muslim due to fact she is wearing a headscarf. Also her cover photos show a picture
of the Quran and a Muslim women praying in the standing position suggesting she
knows about the Islamic prayer. This key element of understanding the prayer in Islam
is a great tool for the viewer to have as the prayer is constantly done throughout our
film.
4. The viewer’s recent activity shows her culture and home town (Saudi Arabia) to be from an
origin where Islam play’s a huge part. This I feel would make it hugely interesting for her to
watch as most of the context in our film is Islamic related which she has lots of knowledge
about. Moreover she has like 'Dina Toki-o' who is a huge inspirational individual to many
Muslim girls in the fashion industry. This may increase her attraction to our film as one of our
main character tries to dress modesty but still flow with the western fashion trends in order to fit
in with her college pupils.
5. From looking at the viewer's favourite
music artists we can see she has a
range of music tastes such as hip hop to
classic Arab. This suggest she would
very much enjoy our music structure as
we range from Islamic to Arab to rebel
etc.
6. To conclude our chosen target audience is a niche audience mainly due to the fact
that the context of our film is most likely only to be understood by a particular
religious or cultural group rather than everyone.
Our film is targeted at teenage girls age 13 -19 from an Islamic or cultural
background. Our wider audience consist of parents/Muslim families who want an
insight into their children’s lives or even people from other religious backgrounds
and cultures who want to know/understand more about the experiences of a typical
western teenage Muslim girl.
