3. Click on “My Videos”
After clicking “My Videos” you will be asked to enter your UMN x500
4. Access the Video You Plan on Using
If needed, scroll down until you find the video you wish to use.
5. Once You Accessed The Video
– Select “Add Derivative”
By clicking “Add
Derivatives” you will be
able to create streaming
versions of the video that
can be placed on a
website or easily shared
with others.
The icons, from left to
right, allow you to:
- Edit Metadata
- Add Derivatives
- Download Original
- Share
- Delete
6. Request A Derivative!
For the greatest compatibility use the HTML5/Flash 9 codex.
The format you select depends
on the project. Quicktime 7
Large and Extra Large are good
the medium quality option.
Click “Submit Request” at the
bottom of the page!. You can also
click the box to be notified via
email when the video is ready.
7. Click on the Link to the Derivative
Once the derivative is finished,
an “Instant Play Link” should be
available under the original
video. Click on it to test the
quality of the video.
You may choose to create
various derivatives and test
various quality settings
8. Sharing a Derivative Video
Copy the Link in the Address Bar
Copy the Link and
Add it to a Moodle
Resource!
You can copy a file by
pressing Control + C
on the Keyboard
9. Add a Video Link - Resource
• Visit Moodle.umn.edu
• Enable Editing Mode (Top Right Corner)
• Click on Add a Resource (Left Scroll Box)
• Click Add a Webpage or File
• Add a Title and a Description of the Resource
• Paste the HTML Code for the Video
• Save the Resource
• Test the Video and Make Sure it Works!
