SS 2012 New York Fashion Week Nail Art
1. Fashion week was full of little yummy fashion details. Let’s take a look beyond the
beautiful dresses and focus on the polish (pun intended) of what makes a fashionable
look actually come together. Designers showing at fashion week are perfectionist in
every sense of the word, so something as simple as a manicure was given attention. It
may seem a bit basic, but the nails are an outlet for expression. Take an up close look
at the nail art the models were wearing on the runways for SS 2012.
Jenni Kayne – Our favorite west coast designer represented with a clean nude look.
This polish is simple and natural, which goes well with any desired look. The show
displayed a fresh hipster style.
Monique Lhuillier – Known for her elegant designs and wedding gowns, the nails at
2. the Monique Lhuillier’s were prim and proper sporting tan bases with black tips. The
days of white tip are in the past and getting more creative with designs is the future.
Ruffian – Special nails for a special showing. Check out these tuxedo nail designs.
From the side it looked like a silver streak across black nail polish for a more
dramatic look.
Jason Wu – More dramatic nails were seen on the Jason Wu models. We saw black
nails with nude tips which were a completely elegant and fashion forward touch for
his well put together show. We can tell that the days of one color coats are quickly
fading.
3. 3.1 Phillip Lim – Nude nails with black nail bed art is a subtle touch for a nail
design, but adds a bit of extra style to this look. We actually like the idea of a two tone
nail to bring out the uniqueness of a style.
Jen Kao – Best in show had to be the nail art from the Jen Kao show. We love the
Oriental art design with a metallic blue design and gold tips. It also has a little bit of
texture for a bit of extra fashion and technique.
4. The Blondes – This gold and green design deserves an honorable mention. We also
see a bit of the dagger shape which adds to the mystic and allure of this nail design.
We can look to the fashion world more and more to experiment with their nail
designs. The old days of acrylic squares are old business and we can’t wait to see
where it’s going to head. For sure we’ll be there to bring you the fashion scoop when
we find out. Keep it locked atwikifashionista.com.
