The recent #s at IBM Impact and Innovate suggest that companies are loosening the purse strings on travel – any sense of that from the customers present? IMS plans to raise the bar even higher at this year’s IOD. Last year our Customer Presentations were the talk of the conference – this year will be even more so. Bookmark the registration page – Registration opened May 3. IMS will also be at Share in Orlando in August. This year’s IMS Symposium in Germany is expanded and is brought to you by IBM. This year’s conference will provide: Compelling keynotes and sessions by subject matter experts In-depth tracks on the topics that matter most to your role Daily networking opportunities Technology solutions fair to see and test drive the latest Meet-the-Expert Roundtable discussions to get the answers to all of your specific questions
In addition to all of the conferences and our worldwide IMS User Group meetings, this is a reminder that 2011 is a big year for IMS in terms of product offerings. IMS 10 and IMS 11 clients can download a free limited use license of the IBM Mashup Center – use it to develop fast, easily deployable web applications that make use of your IMS data assets. IMS Explorer is the new face of IMS AD Simplification. The technology preview has been open for a while now – if you haven’t yet done so, follow the link provided to download your copy and start using it today. We’ll be highlighting it at IOD, and watch your IMS community space to learn about an upcoming IMS Workshop that will show how you can use IMS Explorer with Open Database. Finally, the IMS 12 QPP was announced last year at IOD; there will be related announcements soon, so watch your IMS community space. IMS is a great fit for your future!
IMS is the only QPP program to get Enterprise Clients into production BEFORE General Availability. For IMS 11, 6 clients were in production prior to GA. For IMS 12: GAD is in production nearly FOUR MONTHS PRIOR to GA. TD Bank and RBC (Oct 16) are targeted to be in production by GA date. Several others target EOY 2011, which is within 1 quarter of GA. QPP Focus Areas Stability / regression Performance and virtual storage New function GAD – already in production, plus they have done a lot of testing; they want to use striping…. RBC - they validate the IMS Tools rollouts: successful migration to the new IMS Tools Solutions Packs as part of the IMS 12 QPP. TSYS – TBD. Barclays - They upgraded z/OS, CICS, DB2, IMS, all at once . Can we get any words around that? They are still implementing. WFB – testing Repository . TD Bank - just did the base migration. They like to participate because they want the great support they get from the lab. JPMC - They did a high volume test for V12 . Did the results meet or exceed their objectives? Would they share the results? We probably need to ask Laura. Rose doesn’t know what their intention is in getting IMS 12 into production. TSYS – they are testing FPSI; however, not much progress yet, Production target is 2012. HP not doing much of anything. They are an SI. They drive a unique set of requirements as SIs . They need to be ready to help their clients at GA time. Texas Instruments – Heavy User Mod environment – it usually takes them a year to get their user mods up to date; as QPP clients, they get better support and can get it done in much less time, e.g. < 6 months. Can Sharon Dodd help us here? Telcordia – Application Services for the Telecom companies. They have an application view. Were going to be a primary user of DRD Buffer Pools. Credit Suisse – nothing yet on 12, big SOAP GW implementation now. Production at the end of 2012 planned. HATC – 300 clients in Japan. Important preparatory step in moving all of their clients to IMS 12 in 4 years. Signal Iduna –First time QPP customer – what was their experience? they are going into production the same week as IOD. Fiducia – Unicredit is testing the Repository and RS=NO. No production until, likely 2012.

SW Gas expressed interest last year at IOD. Over the course of the next few weeks, after Discovery, our team of SMEs will evaluate the data collected and generate the Recommendations.
