Using I>Clickers By Eileen Truchan
What are I>Clickers? I>clickers are audience response systems-- think of “Ask the Audience” on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”
Using I>Clickers in the Classroom Students receive instant feedback when answering questions posed by the teacher. Each student uses a hand held wireless “clicker” which allows them to “vote” by pushing a button. A signal is sent from each student’s clicker to the receiver. Continued
Using I>Clickers in the Classroom The teacher then uses a receiver to collect the votes when each student has voted. The teacher finally displays the results of the voting by pushing a button on the teacher’s clicker, which displays a graph and highlights the correct answer. Teachers can set up the system to identify what answers each class member gave.
Why Use I>Clickers? According to the Macmillan company, who market this device “Using a clicker or audience response system can significantly change the way you and your students interact by enabling you to assess your students’ knowledge, keep their attention, provide immediate feedback, and encourage all students to participate.”
