Three steps have been distinguished in the making of web-documentary and they are arranged in a sequential manner: pre-production, production and post-production.In the first stage of the production, everybody in the team will gather around and brainstorm topic ideas for the documentary. Any intended critical impressions or ideas that are to be conveyed to the audience are also determined during the brainstorm session through story outlining. Further research will then be carry out to determine on the feasibility and suitability of the topic. This includes, but not limited to, checking of fact and finding historical documents. Interviews will also be conducted with the main characters and interview questions will be prepare beforehand. Cameraman will pre-visit the location of the shooting to get a sense of the space limitation and determine which location is ideal for individual shots. The next stage is the actual filming stage whereby primary footage such as the interview and photos will be shot. Narrator will conduct the interviews and the thing to take note of to ensure that the subject is comfortable in front of camera. All the images will then be collected and maintain in a log. The post production phase, which is the last stage of the making of the documentary, consists of several tasks such as transcribing interview, story planning and editing. Transcribing refers to the identifying of relevant quotes and focuses on the summary of the location of the images. Story planning is performed in conjunction with script writing, where the story elements and appropriate images with captions are put in order. Editing comprises of recording narrations and selecting the best out of all the takes. From there, the documentary will be complete.
