• Second Marne: Located near Paris, France. The Germans lost
to France, Britain, Italy, and United States. It was Germanys
last strong offensive..
• Gallipoli: Located in the Ottoman Empire, German, The
Ottomans, and Austria-Hungary beat The British, French,
Australia, and New Zealand. It renewed ‘Turkey’s’ vision for
the empire.
• Somme: Located on the Somme River in France, Germany
lost in a battle against every allied power except The United
States. Germans had to retreat 40 miles.
• Verdun: Located in Verdun, France. The French beat the
Germans. It was a bad loss of a key strategic point for the
Germans.

part of the Russian
Revolution of 1917.
• Happened in 1917.
• Resulted
in Russia leaving
World War One.
8. US ENTRY INTO THE WAR
• Two reasons for entering was because people
were pleading to help the Allied European
countries and Germans sunk the passenger
liner “RMS Lusitania”.
• Entered April of 1917.
• They fought with the Allies.
