The Philippines is a diverse country made up of over 170 languages and many ethnic groups. While over 70% of Filipinos are Roman Catholic, Protestant Christianity has grown dramatically from 3,000 churches in 1975 to over 55,000 churches in 2005. Over 10 million Filipinos work overseas, many in countries that are still largely unreached by the gospel. The Philippine government aims to send 200,000 more workers overseas in the next 15 years, presenting a major opportunity for Filipino Christians to share the gospel as tentmaker missionaries in these unreached areas. The Philippine Missions Association's vision is for Filipinos to contribute significantly to worldwide evangelization by focusing on tentmaking, development work, and church planting.
