2. 1. The role of change
2. What are Emerging Technologies?
3. How do we learn?
4. What skills and abilities will we need
as we educate into the future?
Four Parts of Module 1
4. Do we drive technology?
Or is technology
driving us...
We need to think not just about what technology
is and how we learn in it's context; but where
technologies are emerging from; and how they
are changing how we learn...
6. Veletsianos gives 5 criteria for technologies
to be considered emerging:
1. They may or may not be new
2. They are "evolving organisms that exist
in a state of 'coming into being'"(Veletsianos p.13)
3. They "go through hype cycles" (Veletsianos p.14)
4. They are not yet fully understood or fully
researched
5. They are "potentially disruptive but their
potential is mostly unfulfilled" (Veletsianos p.16)

13. Perhaps it is less relevant to consider
what specific technological skills we
will need and instead to do the same
things that successful humans have
always done...to employ good critical
thinking skills, standards of ethics, and
pliant adaptability in the face of
change.
What really matters?

The Conversation Prism specifies 28 different types of conversational social channels and their dimensions, then lists several actual entities within each of the conversational channels: For example, there is a section for Virtual Worlds, Social Networks, and Collaboration. Application- This is a great way to see what is currently available in emerging technologies!!“The Conversation Prism gives you a whole view of the social media universe, categorized and also organized by how people use each network. V 3.0 introduces new groups and networks and also removes those networks no longer in play. Use the Conversation Prism to see what you're missing!”- quote from their web sitehttp://www.theconversationprism.com/1600x1200/
